What insect flies the fastest?

The dragonfly. When a dragonfly comes by, duck! It can travel as fast as 30 miles per hour. But compared to many insects, this big bug beats its wings slowly - only about 25 to 40 beats per second. When a tiny mosquito takes off, it beats its wings (buzz!) about 600 beats per second, but only travels about one mile per hour
